Which Movies are Worth Hitting The Theaters For This Week?
I think this new segment will be helpful to anyone who has a hard time picking a movie at the theater. Since I have a discount to a movie theater, which happens to be 5 min away, I will be watching any movie that comes out this week. Then, I'll try to give you a breakdown on: which movie's worth to check out and which to avoid.
This week we have:
Avengers: Infinity War
Who am I kidding! everyone will go see it, as they should. Because it's Awesome!, and it was hilarious. The whole movie theater shook with laughter, which I think is endearing There's something magical about sharing such experience, it almost makes me forget about the annoying movie goers (key word here; Almost!). But nevertheless, this film rose up to the hype despite the controversial ending and the total absence of Hawkeye. I guess, we'll have to wait till the next one to find out.
I feel pretty
I personally like Amy Schumer. I like her humor and I like it best when she writes her own stuff. Kohn usually writes fluffy romcoms (How to be single, Never been kissed or The vow), and that's how this one came to be... fluffy, when it should have been poignant, considering how important the message they were going after.
Truth be told, I was disappointed: I liked what they were trying to say, especially that they chose not to pull a Shallow Hal (They chose wisely), but I don't think they believed in it enough.
Were there laughs? sure, but not as much! was it cute ? sure! Was it memorable ? not in the slightest. Should you go watch this ? Meh! unless you saw everything playing in your movie theater and you had an hour and a half to kill§ Why Not!
Revenge
The word revenge holds so much violence and aggression and this movie doesn't shy away from it. This film is sure violent, aggressive, graphic and shocking , and righteously so considering the premise. I don't want to get into too much details, but it's a movie that's worth to watch, especially at the moment. Engrossing and immensely intense .
Life of the party
Melissa McCarthy seems one of the, honest to god, sweetest and funniest people on television. And her characters are always likable, I mean remember Sookie, I loved Sookie! But the last couple of years she went for "not so great movies", which are sadly, the ones she made with her husband : Tammy and The boss. Although this one wasn't as bad, but it wasn't as great as bridesmaids.
I loved her character Deanna, I rooted for her , she was sweet and seems like the best mom to have with in college or ...anywhere. But I didn't think the movie was funny, I wanted it to be but sadly the only laughs I managed to extract were directed towards Maya Rudolph's character Christine.
Honestly, I wasn't impressed by it. I really wanted to, though :/.
Breaking in
The movie premise sounded...not promising but, interesting enough. The story is basically a reverse Panic room. Gabrielle Union was locked out while her children were held hostage by the robbers. To put it mildly, the story is filled with plot holes, however Gabrielle stuck it out. She was committed to the role, which makes me sad because she's Really good. I'm not gonna waste my energy on reviewing this movie, to be honest, I feel like I wasted enough already when I watched it.
